It's like ice cream - but nicer!
Nicer than ice cream- could it be? Yes! This vegan dessert uses bananas as a base, in addition to our delicious Velo coffee, and chocolate! You can't go wrong! This healthy, frozen treat is low in calories, and absolutely delicious!
"N"ice cream is made with frozen bananas, and can be made in a food processor or blender! This whole idea started out as a banana-based ice cream, but is now used to describe ANY dairy-free, fruit-based frozen treat (yum!) This is a much healthier alternative to regular ice cream since it's free from artificial ingredients, preservatives, and added sugar.
SO, what do we need to make it?
- 3 ripe bananas (frozen)
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 120mls (1/2 cup) Velo strong brewed coffee (cooled to room temp)
- 60mls (1/4 cup) unsweetened cocoa powder
- Chocolate chunks for serving
Are you ready to go?
Add the bananas, Velo coffee, and vanilla extract into the food processor or blender. Once they reach a smooth and creamy consistency, add the cocoa powder and blend. (Is it starting to look like brownie batter? Good!)
Once it's blended, it will look like really creamy soft-serve ice cream. For thicker consistency, freeze for at least 2 hours in an air-tight container!
After it has had time to freeze, let it thaw for about 5 minutes, top it with your chocolate chunks, and enjoy! All of us here at Velo will certainly be enjoying this delicious, coffee-infused frozen treat this summer- won't you?!
